THE FILM
"UNJUST LAWS BREED INJUSTICE"
The year is 1923, Prohibition has
backfired. The Eighteenth Amendment
has failed and so too has the
Volstead Act, meant to enforce the
ill conceived law. The Roaring
Twenties are in full swing, morals
are shifting, booze is flowing, and
a new class of gangster is formed.
While some choose to make their
wealth in the stock market, others
choose to make their money on the
LIGHTNING RUN.

THE MISSION
Mission Statement from Director McKay Mohun
"In developing the story of Lightning Run, I knew from the start that I wanted to make a film which resembled the time and era it was set in, the Roaring Twenties. Making it a silent film presented a unique challenge but one that we readily accepted.
The 1920s were such an exciting and groundbreaking time; the film industry was emerging opening the door for the pioneers of classic cinema. These filmmakers of the silent era, didn't have the modern tools like CGI, or sound, rather they let their visuals truly tell the story. My greatest hope for this project was not to just recreate the past but to reveal a gateway in time."

THE FACTS
Special Acknowledgements
This short film was shot entirely in Central Alabama by student filmmakers at the University of Alabama with actors located throughout the South. This required a great deal of time management and organization coupled with the fierce determination to adhere to our schedule. This cast and crew was extraordinary, we were very fortunate to have each and every one of them. However we could not have done it without our generous financial contributors. We would like to thank: The Mohun Family, The De Young Family, The Repar Family, Shelly Bone, Anne Busch, William Jucksch, Teri Worstein, Jennifer Ridley as well as the City of Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama.
